Sunlit pavement cafes, relaxed seaside tavernas, chic wine bars, country pubs and fashionable restaurants which serve delicious food are perfect venues for socialising with family, friends or business colleagues.

The experience can be one of life’s great pleasures.

However, eating out on a regular basis can bring with it problems for those of us who wish to stay slim, fit, happy and healthy.

Good intentions often disappear after a glass or two of wine, so it is wise to be prepared!

  • Avoid processed, salty and very sweet dishes
  • Avoid eating bread, pasta, butter, cheese, cream and excessive olive oil
  • Avoid deep fried foods

Instead:

  • Order salads, with dressings on the side
  • For starters, choose a light vegetable soup or small vegetarian dish
  • For main course, order simple dishes with emphasis on fresh fish, pulses, vegetables and salads.
  • The dish of the day is often the freshest
  • For dessert, choose a fresh fruit option
  • Choose a herb tea in place of coffee
  • Always ensure that you order plenty of still mineral water to accompany any wine taken with food

By choosing all the healthy options you will not go hungry or feel deprived, but will have the energy and sparkle to party as long as you wish.
