Personal Journey. After leaving school at 15 l went to art school for three years, l studied environmental design. I took science A levels at evening classes. I also qualified and worked part time as a trampoline coach. In addition l worked as a hair model for a well known hair company. l wanted to keep my career options open! I then worked for a year as an environmental designer for Stockport council. That was a strangest job l ever did! I then decided to take time out and travel around Australasia (much party going and visits to the beach to follow). I did work a lot though whilst travelling. The most fun jobs l had were working as a magician's assistant (on TV) and then a pixie in santa's grotto.
On returning to the UK l continued this rather chaotic lifestyle. A year on and l ended up with no job and living in a hostel in Clapham Junction. Not so much fun. So l slowed down completely, reflected on my life and took a year out to look at what career l wanted to follow. I tried lots of short courses, investigated different career options and still didn't know what to do.
Close friends and family all decided l'd make a great osteopath. I did look in to it thoroughly and agreed it would suit me. I like people and l feel osteopathy mixes science and art beautifully. Because of my broad background l have found my work is largely divided between working for two extremes of society; Privileged members of society like celebrities (mainly bands, l receive a retainer to work with two bands) as well as homeless people and people affected by substance misuse. Now my social life is well balanced with work and l immensely enjoy my job.
